#techie, Google Drive - 1603 Fatal error
Just a quick blog which might help some of you out there!
I've just been rebuilding my now rather elderly but otherwise perfectly good Laptop, several service packs and 125 updates later it's just about ready to start using - so the first thing I installed was Google Drive, I find Google drive brilliant for sharing various documents between my laptop, Mac, IPod, Phone and tablets!
So I logged into Google Chrome and downloaded Google Drive and started to Install only to be met with a 1603 Fatal error!!!!!!
Now if I had a pound for every time I've installed Google Drive... well I'd have at least a tenner! but I've never come across this error before. I found several web articles talking about permissions and ensuring that the Google folder under "Program Folders" isn't set to read only but all this was to no avail!
In the end the solution is to install Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 (http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/confirmation.aspx?id=5582) I tried the install again and it worked fine!
